How we handle information when you visit or contact us.

Privacy notice
This notice explains the personal information that may be handled when you use DampUK.co.uk or contact us.
Who is responsible for information?
The operator and data controller for this website is Prudent Plus Limited, whose contact and company registration details appear below. You can contact us about privacy using the protected email link at the end of this notice.
This notice concerns DampUK itself. If you follow a link to MyJobQuote or another outside website, that organisation has its own privacy policy and may collect information from you directly.
What information may be collected?
DampUK is an informational website. It does not currently provide user accounts, a newsletter registration service or an onsite enquiry form. You do not have to give us your name or contact details to read the guides.
When you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your email address, name, message and any attachments. Please avoid sending sensitive personal or medical information unless necessary. Website hosting and security systems may also record technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps and server error information.
Why we use data and our lawful bases
We process emails so we can consider and respond to genuine correspondence, deal with corrections or complaints, maintain records and protect the website from misuse. Depending on the circumstances, the lawful basis may be our legitimate interests in operating the site and replying to correspondence, or a legal obligation where we are required to retain or disclose information.
Technical logs may be processed for website delivery, troubleshooting, security and abuse prevention on the basis of legitimate interests. We do not use information submitted to us to provide automated property diagnoses or to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on people.
Cookies, embedded content and external links
The current website is made of static pages. We have not intentionally added advertising trackers, analytics scripts, social-media tracking pixels or newsletter cookies. However, the hosting provider may use essential technical measures, and third-party resources can operate independently. Any future use of non-essential cookies or analytics should be reflected in an updated notice and, where required, appropriate consent controls.
We link to external resources and MyJobQuote. Clicking those links means the destination may receive information about your visit and will handle any details you provide under its own terms. DampUK does not receive the personal data you submit on MyJobQuote merely because you used a link on this site.
Who may have access to information?
Information may be available to authorised people maintaining the site, email and hosting providers, and technical service providers acting under appropriate arrangements. We may disclose information where legally required or where reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect rights or respond to lawful requests.
Some technical or email suppliers may handle information outside the UK. The exact locations and transfer safeguards depend on the providers used. These arrangements should be checked against the site's actual hosting and email configuration before publication.
How long information is kept
We retain correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary to handle the matter, respond to follow-up questions, maintain an appropriate record or meet applicable legal obligations. Routine technical logs are retained according to the hosting provider's security and operational settings, which should be confirmed before publication. Information no longer needed should be securely deleted or anonymised as appropriate.
Your rights and complaints
Subject to the circumstances and applicable law, you may be able to request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of use, transfer of certain information or objection to processing based on legitimate interests. You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, subject to any overriding lawful grounds. If we rely on your consent for any future processing, you can withdraw it.
To raise a concern, please contact us first so that we can look into it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
